Guys, you have always given me the necessary input to solve problems. I trust you also this time. I am the Swedish guy with the Vista 278 from 2006. On shorepower my Guest battery charger (2 x 10 A) charges the start battery. So far so good. The problem is that the house battery gets no charging. I have tested the voltage delivered to the battery when the charger is on and it is only on the cables to the start battery that the voltage increases to some 13,4 volts. The house battery remains on the same voltage as before the charger was turned on. I have also tried to leave the charger on shore power for two days, but same result. No charge was delivered to the house battery. In fact - some decimals of voltage was drained from the house battery..... On the charger, two green indicators ligths up when the charger is turned on. I have checked the connections to the battery. They are really tight. Your input will be much appreciated. |

A stab in the dark here, on my Guest 2 x 10a charger there are two sets of positive and negative cables. One of the sets has a positive cable marked for use with starter. Is it possible that the negative cables were inadvertently swapped? I've used mine to charge two batteries at a time, or a single battery with the other pair not hooked up to anything. You might try disconnecting the charger connections from the starting battery to see whats up. |

I would use the wiring schematics you can find in your manual or at http://www.fourwinns.net and make sure it is wired up correct as Jim said. I honestly have not had to look at my battery charger besides making sure the charging/ready lights are on, so I'm not sure if there may or may not be a switch on it? |

Thanks for your input. I have still not found the solution to this problem. I have tried changing the negative cables, but that did not help either. It still only charges the starter battery. I found out that there are two fuses at the battery on/off switch. Both fuses are ok. Also both "ready" lights turns green when shore power is connected. I guess I have to give up investigating this myself and check with a marine electrician. Regards |

Comda, last thing you can check is whether the charger itself is defective. Move the charger cables that charge the starting battery to the house battery, if the house battery starts taking a charge then the charger itself is likely the culprit, if not then think about a visit to a marine electrician. |
