My battery gauge has stopped working. It is pegged at the bottom. I have two brand new batteries, but was thinking maybe because I hooked up a second battery (boat only had 1, but had the Perko switch for two batteries) that the gauge was not reading correctly or I should have done something different.

Any advice on troubleshooting? I did some searches but did not find anything on point.

Thanks.

Do you mean the voltmeter that is part of the 4 in 1 gauge? Wiring should be part of the helm wiring harness. No changes should be needed, the connection would be through your helm systems harness going through the helm circuit breaker, and positive lead normally going to a battery. This is the smaller of the two poitive cables that connected to the stock battery.

Kind of scratching my head here, if you have power to the helm and instruments, the voltmeter should be working.

I have power to the helm and everything works except the battery gauge and the trim gauge. I think the trim gauge stopped working when I replaced the u-joints and bellows. Research on here suggests is the trim gauge sensor (?) that is located on the starboard side of the stern drive. I looked at it one time when I had a few minutes, but could not get it to come off and stopped as I did not want to break it.

Unable to solve the battery gauge. Maybe the gauge is bad?

Here is a picture of my dash. The fuel, temp, oil all work fine.

Did you do any work under the helm? Maybe a ground came loose? Try tightening all of the connectors on the back of the 4 in 1 gauge.

I will give it a shot. Yes, was under the helm tracing an ignition issue (aftermarket depth finder installed by previous owner had a wire melt). Maybe I hit it.
