West Marine has a nice price for an electric toilet. Anyone have experiance or advice for an upgrade?

AlexJ, I do not know anything 1st hand about the electric toilets but on another messageboard there is a whole thread about how noisy the Jabsco Electric Head is! The concensus there is to stay away from that particular head. I have no idea how that compares to the one you are looking at, but you may want to check it out. A few partial quotes follow:

"I have installed a new Jabsco Electric Head in Abyss. We tested it out
the other day and found it makes more noise than the diesel engine and
the generator combined. "

"If it sounds like a garbage disposal digesting bone, it is normal. I
have the same toilet."

Again, I am just relaying what I recently read on that messageboard, and do not know if this is what you are thinking of or not.

I have installed the Jabsco electric conversion. Yes it is noisy, but it sure beats the hand pump. The noise comes from the macarator that grinds and pumps the waste to the tank. Did have a leaking problem but replaced the seals and that took care of it.

Just my opinion from my experiences with Jabsco heads...they suck! I replaced the one in my 248 Vista with a Raritan PHII and had no problems. I got tired of my head being in the haed all the time fixing the Jabsco.

I guess Jabso heads being cheap proves the old adage...you get what you pay for.
