Post subject:  298 Vista Cabin Lights

Today I started putting in LED replacement bulbs in all of my cabin and v berth lights. I really wanted to get something more efficient than the power hungry halogens that were in there.

So, starting in the main cabin, I did one light at a time to make sure they worked as I put them in. I NEVER paid attention to see if the V berth lights were coming on or not when I was replacing the ones in the cabin. One at a time, all of the cabin lights work fine with the LED replacements.

All this time, I have NOT been paying attention to see if the V berth halogen lights have been working. So, I try the first V Berth LED light and it doesnt work. Tried another one, same issue. Tried putting a halogen back in there, doesnt work.

In my boat, these are on the same "Cabin Lights" switch and in the past have ALL worked at once. I ran out of time and had to leave so I wasnt able to do much in the way of trouble shooting. My first thought is to change EVERYTHING back to halogen and THEN start in the V Berth and work back towards the main cabin to see if anything changes.

I am at a loss.....any ideas?

Did you have to take any of the fixtures apart? I'm wondering if a connection got broken somewhere.

Nope, just pop off covers, change bulb, snap cover back on.

There is a separate switch for the v-berth lights. It is to the left of the sink.

Ebay has a lot of different style LED lights. Just get the same bulb style number. I highly suggest "SMD" style as traditional style LED's don't light spaces well.

One of my winter projects includes replacing the cabin lamps as well as the courtesy lights in the cockpit area with LED replacements (2006 V278). Just wondering if you were satisfied with your replacement choices (or if anyone has any thoughts on suitable LED modules)? I suppose I would ideally like to have the same lighting level as the current bulbs.

Thanks

I suppose there may be a slight difference, but I can say that I am satisfied with what I have replaced. They run much cooler and use way less power.

Thank you very much!

Do you have information on the specific replacement LED part by chance? It looks like the link might have changed?

I would not be too disturbed by a minor variance in the lighting level but just trying to avoid an "oh my" moment

Thanks

The link still works but states "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available" and then lists a couple of other suggestions. Was it the 'G4 21 LED Warm Light' that you used? Just wanted to confirm.

Thanks again!

If you scroll down a little, it has the ones in the auction that I bought. Mine are the G4, 19 LED ones.
