Yup and yup.

Wires are starting to get a tad bit corroded. The other night I had to fidget with the wires on the starter switch because all the gauges turned off (but boat ran fine).

If I dip under the helm and clean all the contacts, is there something I can spray it with to cover the bare metal?

Every boater should have a tube in their bag IMO.

THATS IT!! You should try to clean the connectors/contacts first. Wire brush, sand paper, file, andthing that will clean it. Than coat it with the grease.

I went to West Marine and tried their stock Hella LED white light and it worked great. I was a little concerned about fitting in the original hole and it just fit. I sealed the connections with a plastic crimp connector and a portable heat sealer. There is less light but I like it better for night vision.
