Post subject:  LED Bow light

I decided last weekend to upgrade my bow light for two reasons, efficiency and safety. The old light got so hot I felt it wasn't safe for people sitting in the front seats. I know that when I've leaned over the bow to hook the winch strap up it's gotten me so I decided it was time to change it out. My running lights are now all LED's. This is the fixture I decided on, http://www.walmart.com/ip/LED-BI-COLOR-BOW-LIGHT-WH/11071198, the Attwood 3520W7. It's the all white version, the chrome/black is more common but that just doesn't fit the look of my boat, or most other boats. Using Wallyworlds sit-to-store shipping I got the light for less than $30! :D

The old fixture.

Old fixture removed. The old light had male spades molded into the bottom of it.

Finished installation :D I had to drill new screw holes as the new light only used two screws. There is 3/4" wood backing in this location. Of course I used SS screws and a dab of silicone to seal every thing up.

Walmart site-to-store took eight days to arrive but that's better than the 15-22 they said it would be.

There's two versions.... 1 mi and 2 mi. Unless you have a 40ft bowrider, you just need the 1 mi light.

My last boat was fully LED looked really good. My new one I already had the LED anchor light but I do need to install the front LED

Very nice.....is there a trick to getting the stock lights apart? Mine is inop and I want to start troubleshooting but in the few minutes I looked at it wasn't obvious.

Thanks

1 screw on top, and it comes apart, 3 more and it comes off the boat. Takes about 5 minutes...

About to do this to my SR, I already got the LED pole (which is annoyingly bright)
