Well - one of my 24 Month cranking batteries gave up the ghost after 6+ years, any suggestions or comments -- it has interstate marine cranking in both house and starting, was considering putting a deep cycle on house and a decent cranking in. AGM? or?

Thanks

When I still had my 298 (had 3 batteries) I replaced them. They were, if I recall, about 3-4 years old. I replaced all 3 with dual purpose batteries and they were fine. Ideally, its probably best to have the house battery be a deep cycle, perhaps an AGM type.

I just went with a Deka deep cycle but then saw this and wondered if I should have gone this route ??

FWIW, if you have a Sams Club membership you can score some good deals on regular flooded cell batteries OR AGM. Personally, I went with two group size 31 AGM batteries this spring. $100 cheaper than anybody else AND a 3 year no questions asked full replacement warranty.

AGM you get more usable power. Gel is even better. There's a Deka warehouse 10 miles from my house they sell "reconditioned" batteries. I think I paid $35 for my marine master dual purpose.

Do you have a battery charger that handles both batteries and if so, can you select what type of battery you need to charge?
