My 12 year old Concept '0' Windlass has finally bit the dust. My tech is checking into a motor replacement but I want to know if there is a replacement windlass since it is no longer manufactured? I read where the Lewmar V-700 seems to be the best replacement. Has anyone ever replaced their Concept '0' with a V-700? Thanks. |

OP Update #2: My tech stated it only cost around $70 to have the windlass motor rebuilt and the problem was moisture was in the motor due to it being so tightly sealed to meet boating regulations. I guess they worry about sparks since the anchor well has access to bilge fumes. |

It sounds like my issue may be the same. I have 2 questions. 1. How do you access the windlass motor? Is it behind the V-berth mirror? 2. Can you tell me what company rebuilt the motor for you and your tech? I'd love to have them rebuild mine if it's rebuildable. |

Not sure where 298VISTA2000 took his, but any motor shop should be able to repair it, if possible. |

I think it would be easier to remove it than to try to work on it by removing the mirror. Some of the boaters up here have brought in theres to places that rebuild starters. Both are 12v motors so they don't have a problem in working on them. |
