Post subject:  Cockpit table - 378

Hello FW family,

Does anybody know of a site or listening to acquire a replacement cockpit table for a FW 378?
I am looking for a replacement plastic or wood model (preferred) as sold for a 378 from 2002-08...the table size was unchanged during production (I have the original table but it is showing its age).

Alternatively, anyone have a good experience (teak fabricator) with purchasing a custom-made teak table...please provide the contact detals (preference for a Canadian source).

I have contacted FW directly and they are looking into the aforementioned table inquiry and will advise.

Thank you very much!

Clayton

What I have learnt from the process of looking for a teak table for my 378...

"Marine Teak" Company provides teak strips laminated to plywood/plastic (barrier) (cheapest manu process available)...not solid teak.

Also teak has different grades...
There are many inferior grades of teak on the market, the bulk of which is plantation teak. Plantation teak is grown in course sand and harvested every 5-10 years. Although these young trees might be slightly more cost effective, they are very low in sand and oil content, which defeats the purpose. Burmese teak is harvested every 25-50 years, is grown in sand the consistency of powder and is extremely high in oil and sand content, somewhere in the area of 800% higher then plantation teak.

The 378 table is large (58" L x 24" W footprint) and curved requiring extra labor and expertise.

The FW teak table is very nice and quality built...

All teak tables are not created equal....buyer beware and informed!

Cheapest is not always the best!

Cheers!

"Cheapest is not always the best"
It depends on what you want.

Before you make your final decision, check here. (Which is where you got this quote)

I have a 2005 348, and our table was crap. There was a stamp on our cabin table from Wexford Woodworks.
I don't know if Four Winns uses them for all of their wood tables, or if this was custom.
Anyway, I called them up, sent them a template for the cockpit table, and I now have a custom all Cherry Wood table to match the table downstairs and all of the woodwork downstairs.
It only cost $350.
They were great to work with.
They sent me the table before I even paid for it, saying that they wanted to make sure I was happy with it first.
It was perfect, and I sent them out a check, I don't believe they accept credit card.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Sorry I do not have a picture at this time to share.
I just took the pole mounts off the other table and installed them on the cherry wood table.
I make sure to drill pilot holes first for the table mount screws.
No complaints what so ever!

Capt Morgan...."Cheapest is not always the best"

Matter of opinion. Owning a 378 as you do, you might consider it to be the best, but many other's would not.
The decision to spend a huge amount of money on a table, is entirely up to you. To me, it would not be worth the
money to have "the best" in that particular boat.

Capt Morgan...
I find it strange that you feel a need to comment on a particular boat and a purchasing decision...your World appears very small and isolated.
I guess that is why you feel the need to refer to yourself as "Captain"....enough said!
Have a nice day!

Not strange at all. This is a message board. A member can choose to post to a topic or not. I posted my thoughts, because I can.
NOT because I "need" to.
It does not matter if other's agree or not, the board exists to offer opinions. Which is what I did.

Back to your regularly scheduled topic.......
