I dont think you need any sort of "drain hose". If you had a cruiser, it may be helpful, but in a regular bow rider....whatever needs to drain, will make it to the bilge in your boat.

I currently have an issue with water accumulating under the cup holder spots and not draining. Is this caused by a blockage, say a hose or something, or is this normal underneath the cup holders? Usually happens from people getting in and out of the boat and then reaching for their drinks...which I cannot blame them for!

Cause a few of the cup holders are pretty tight in their housing, while a few others are lose and want to make sure that any water that does get into the siding will be removed and not be retained and cause mildew and or mold or worse, start causing issues on inside of the boat.

Any information, guidance or tips would be great! Thanks in advance everyone!

MdR, which cupholders are you having this problem with, and how did you happen to discover water pooling underneath without removing them? Not sure I understand the issue.

Have the stock plastic cup holders that came with the boat. During on of my anal cleanings of the boat decided to clean out the cup holders. Well like a lot of people they are hard to clean so I thought if I could pull them out it would be easier. So I lifted one and saw a large amount of water directly underneath where the cup holder had been. The boat was currently out of the water and had been for a few days and no it had not rained for weeks. Even if it had rained still would have expected the water to have made its way to the bilge.

Didn't like the look of that so I started to pull all of them to discover that some had water while others didnt. Pretty much the back four seem to be the biggest issues.

Last Friday I wanted to order some stainless steel cup holders, but then I noticed that on out Vista, the two cup holders on the dashboard are actually not round but have a somewhat different shape. It's round, but with another small circle attached (if that makes sense) Does anybody know where to get those?

Any one have any insight on if the water should be there, if it should be draining or if I should just seal the cup holders in place?

Thanks

The water that is in there should have a path to the bilge, so it doesn't mildew, and such. Keep in mind, there is usually a small drain hole in the cup holder. Sealing the cup holders in place should be the correct answer. I have not yet done that on mine, because being able to remove them actually gives me access for running other wiring along my gunnals. I should be done "mod'ing" my boat the day I sell it!

Guess I might have a larger issue here. The cup holders do not have a drain hole in them. They are a solid piece of plastic. I think when we unwinterize the boat I will be sticking my hand around the holes and see if I can locat the path the water should be moving to the bilge section.

Looks like this is going to be a fun research project. Thanks everyone for help, will keep you all posted.

Also, if the water isn't coming in from the cup holders, locate the source before sealing them in. Keep in mind, if you upgrade to SS (or lighted) cupholders, they typically have a small drain hole in the bottom.

Good luck!

Mine didn't have drain holes in them either which I consider to be a flaw in the design...Stuff spills in drink holders, and they get wet anyway by virtue of the fact that they are on a boat (at least on bow-riders). I drilled holes in the bottom of mine as soon as I got the boat.

Those are coffee mug holders (mine are black and recessed with a cut out for the handle). I am pretty sure you have to go to Four Winns directly to get them now.

Coffee mug holders. Hmmm. Makes sense I guess.

Thanks Vista2000.
