Alright I am in the market for a GPS. I wanted one that would have maps for the Puget Sound. I don't need anything fancy just a good all around GPS for my boat.

Any tips or suggestoins would be great.

Thanks,

Looks like a nice unit at a great price. I've had excellent experiences with Eagle and Lowrance products over the years.

I recently got the Eagle 642ci (which looks to be very similar to the 502 you have shown). The sonar?? For the money, awesome. The mapping, not so much. It was mediocre at best. I then went and got the Create Map 7.1 from Lowrance and LOVE IT. ($100 @ Bass Pro) It is a night and day difference. At $100, it costs less than half of the price of Navionics and I can map any water or land in the entire US including Alaska. For the boating and fishing we do, it works great.

Hi

I had a Gamin in my first boat. So I UP graded to a Raymarine. I found it very hard to use!!! I then back to Garmin and I am VERY pleased with it!!!!

I've used Garmin, Magellan, and something else? in aviation. I have always found Garmin to be more "intuitive" and just plain easier to get what I want out of it. For that reason I haven't touched anything but Garmin in about 5+ years.

The sound is pretty well mapped by all the data providers. Garmin is easy to use and has great mapping features, Furuno is pro grade and you can't go wrong since their service center is down here near Portland. Lowrance has horrible service but an OK product, Raymarine has a good product but OK service. I would only put Garmin or Furuno on my boat.
