This weekend we tried to put the jump seats into the higher position, which forms the rear sun pad. But the seats did not fit into the slotted openings. It seems that the pieces where incorrectly attached to the seats.

Would you take it back to the dealer to have them fix or just do it yourself?

Thanks for the feed back

On a boat this new? Dealer. I'd consider this to still be part of the "shake down" period.

Okay, I am taking it in this weekend to have the Depth Sounder and a rattle looked at.

I just purchased an '02 Freedom 170 w/jumpseats. How do you raise them to create the sundeck? Is it an option to purchase? Have any pictures of what it looks like after turning the jumpseats and motor cover into a sun deck? Thanks

Boating Newbie - I looked at a 180 at the boat show and the rep showed me the jump seats. Seems to me you just tilt to get them out then set them on the gunwales/engine cover in slots to make the sundeck. I seem to remember thinking that I would not have it set up like that in motion for fear of loosing a seat. Hang tight - I will see if I can find a boat show pic that illustrates . . . .

I would do it myself if it meant lost time on the water. Otherwise, I'd make the dealer handle it. Especially if you're already taking it in for other stuff.

Looks like the instructions are on page 99 of the manual. No pictures - which is surprising since they devote 4 pages to the sunlounge cusions/sun pad option in the bigger Horizons. Here's the three 'easy' steps:

1. Remove jumpseats.

2. Place the cleat of the jumpseats into the upper recessed portion of the sidewall/coming pad. ( A picture would have been nice here. )

3. Push opposite end of the jumpseat into the recessed portion of the motorhood cover. The fit should be snug and relatively flush with top storage cushion. (Again a pic is worth 1000 words). Generally, the sew pattern of the jumpseat should match the top storage cushion.

They go on with a Caution about making sure they are secure before use and against walking or stepping on them. Then there's two Notices about not operating the boat with them in upper positions and not travelling at highway speeds with them in upper positions.

Yeah, make the Dealer demonstrate how to do it.

On my H190 you remove the seat Open eng cover, slide the out board portion of the seat under tab, then push the backrest in as lowering the eng cover/sunpad. Yes you can travel at WOT, cause they're locked in place by the outboard tab & the eng cover inboard. Also you flip the seat bottom over in the lower postion & it's a hard plastic/teflon step, so those rudey guest don't step  on your vinyl seat cushions.
