I have a 2008 Horizon 260, which I love. The problem is that the bimini arch design is flawed. I boat on a rouch lake, and the arch has broken twice at the base where connected. Actually what happened is the pressure of the waves, broke the bolt where it was attached. This caused the arch to fall and "scratch" the boat. Of course, the dealer fixed it under warranty, but it has happened twice. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?

I believe my '06 260 had the same design. I assume you're referring to the bimini poles when you say "arch". I had one of the mounting screws break when towing. Never on the water. You might try and find some hardened type of screw? It's a horrible mounting method. I gave some thought to trying to modify it but sold it instead. :). Post a pic and maybe someone can come up with a better solution.

What exactly is breaking - the screw, the end connector, the mount, the pole?

Good question mike! I assumed screw because that's what happened to me. Maybe a "softer" metal would be better to allow a little give?

The screw is breaking. All the weight and the pressure of bouncing from rough water just wearing it down until it snaps in center. When this happens, pole slides - "scrapes" down side of boat. It has happened twice. Dealer admits design terribly flawed!
