Post subject:  4 Steps Bow Ladder

Is it me or Bow Ladder on Horizons which is 3 steps seems too short?…. We understand it is made for accessing boat from head on beached time. However, we always anchor our boat at waste deep water at beach and they are too short especially for kids…. After few thoughts I figure out converting our 3 step ladder to 4 steps ladder which works much better for our use… The diameter of 4 steps ladder is larger so I had to machine and re shape the bracket but I made them to work…
I think bow ladder for Horizon should 4 steps from factory…..

That is absolutely awesome! I have had the same problem on my 220SS we were anchored at the sandbar and when I went to get on through the bow it was absolutely impossible. I was really surprised that they didn't think about this and just add one more step. The swim ladder in the back of the boat is absolutely the greatest and for a couple of dollars more they should just install the same ladder up front. Any directions as to how you did this?

The new ladder is Seachoice 71321 and it will fit to Horizon’s bow with the fixed bracket comes with the ladder. However, Four Winn’s original 3 step ladder has sliding track style bracket (the ladder will slide inward towards anchor box) and it will require fabrication in order to fit lager tube of 4 steps ladder. 1st step is using 1 1/4'” end mill to cut the leading edge of bracket to fit a larger diameter ladder tube. Next bend bracket outward slightly so lager diameter ladder tube will sit with-in inside of bracket.
Using bolts and nuts came with new ladder (longer bolt) and put new ladder to bracket using thin washer. It took me about 20 minutes to fabricate them.

Sushi,

How much further does the 4 step ladder stick out of the anchor locker than the three step, when stowed? 1.5, 2 inches?
