Had the convertible top completely rebuilt on my 91 Sundowner 255. You dont want to know how much it cost

But was pleasantly surprised today when I received a text from the canvas guy saying that the bimini top was installed!! Ill have the side windows and backdrop by Monday, at the latest :D

The old top (note the duct tape over the newest rips as of last weekend, and the past power washer damage). The canvas was so thin and dry rot it, everytime I yanked on the canvas - for example, to roll it up and put the 'boot' over it - it would rip somewhere. I think it was the original from 1991. Also, the black backing is all of the spots I had to have repaired because it had previously ripped or got so thin it was shredding:

Now the NEW canvas :) I chose charcoal gray as the color; the last color was cabot gray and it was too light in my opinion. I wanted something a little darker. I should add, I almost went with black canvas but changed my mind.

Here goes!

Sunbrella, only the best, of course! 8)

Some of the pictures looked 'washed' and I have no idea why. I took them with my EOS but had to resize them umpteen times to get the site to accept them... Anyways, more pics to come. So excited to be covered in style now..lol

One more, looking from the front. I didnt resize this one too much so it should be much more clear.

Maybe that's the problem. Maybe the camera thinks the new top is a BIG gray card and exposed accordingly :D

Question. What is the post in the middle of the windshield?

Greg

That is my all- around navigation light. It folds down when not in use, and I just swing it up and tighten a wing-nut when I want it up.

Thanks for all of the compliments!! I agree, the grey gives it a nicer look. I was really tempted to go with black canvas, but the thought of forever cleaning off dead bugs, bird poop, cottonwoods, etc... drove me to the dark grey...lol.

I cant wait to get the rest of the package. The canvas guy will be back tomorrow to do some more cutting of material (he does it at my seawall and goes back to the shop to stitch it up). This guy has been contracted by several of my boating friends and he is known in the area as one of the very best. Very nice person as well as a good businessman! Cant beat that....

Woot woot... the canvas project is finished 8) the piper is paid, the convertible top, backdrop and side windows are in!

With all said and done, they did a great job on the new canvas! the biggest zippers were used, the thickest side windows, and all edges were reinforced 5 times with stitching... he said I'd need a new boat before I needed new canvas again...lol.

Notice how the front top was raised - one of my requests so I'd have more headroom with the convertible top up.

Looks great! And the color fits very well.

As for the canvas guy saying you'd need a new boat before canvas??? Hopefully you reminded him it was a Four Winns!

WOW!!! That is a beautiful cover brother, whoever did that took their time and definitely treated your boat like it was theirs. 8)
