Ah I love Ship Shape TV! FYI: That unit they installed is a old school bigger one. The stuff sold today is much smaller. |

Very nice, I need to look at my boat for a spot for the unit. I never thought about running one off an invertor, that opens up a lot of possibilities. I'll look into the dimensions of the new smaller units. |

I'll look into the dimensions of the new smaller units. With two AGM batteries you can get about 2 straight hours of A/C before you gotta cut it off to avoid damage on the new units. In the real world on a small cuddy you'd probably get a solid day out of the batteries. It will only be on for a few minutes at a time. A better option that I was looking at doing, is just.. buy an inverter generator. If you've never seen one in person you won't hear it over the A/C. You can put it on the swim platform and talk next to it without raising voice. Never have to worry about batteries. |

Yeah, I'm not into the generator issues. I've got shorepower at my dock. I could get the cabin cooled down while using the shorepower thru a battery charger and then the batteries would still be fully charged for any time away from the dock. Another good thing is that Lake Michigan stays pretty cold so the condensor heat exchanger would be very efficient and help with battery draw. |
