My buddy and I spent the winter trying to think of a practical use for the sink in the cockpit of my H230. After dwelling on this for about 5 seconds, we came up with a beer tap. Is it practical? Hell no--but that ship sailed the minute we all decided to buy boats. So why do it? Because we can. Here are a few pictures of the first tapping of the season. The first glasses were a little foamy--but it's a work in progress. Cheers and happy boating to all!

Does anyone know what the criteria/standards are for the award of a Nobel Peace Price? Because this has to be in the running! Truly genius.

Eric - we'll be down your way for the fireworks at Sequoyah and Springs next weekend. We're looking forward to it. Would love to test that tap up at the "jumping bridge" near Deerfield.

Is there an aerator on that faucet that might be causing the foam?

If they ever pass a boating law that prohibits open containers, that would be an excellent idea. You must not have young kids though because my youngest one will turn the sink on and and just walk away.

Yep. There is an aerator. We discovered that about half way through the keg. We took it off and that helped quite a bit. Also helps to open the faucet all the way to begin the pour. I am determined to see this experiment through. I mean--it's for science, right?

Bummer--We are going to miss the fireworks this year due to another vacation. We are doing a floating house later in July and will definitely be spending some time at the bridge that week. Have fun and be careful. The drive home after those fireworks is typically not enjoyable. Hope you don't have far to go.

Too bad. Thanks for the tips. We're slipping at Shanghai, so we're not too far away. I made the mistake of going with the crowd a few years ago and that was a pretty white-knuckle ride. We'll sit tight until things die down and then putt back to the slip. Hoping to get some pictures of the fireworks this year. Hope your other vacation is enjoyable! I'd ask where the beer barge is docked, but I doubt you'd disclose it.....

The first tapping of the season was New Castle. Our experiment will continue this weekend with Heineken. Science is a tough job--but someone has to do it.

Not sure if it is available by you or not, but Bell's Oberon would also be a tasty one to try on tap.

I have to agree, this is one of the best post I've read on this site... brilliant. I only wish I had a sink on deck.
