214 funship cover

I recently bought a 03 214 funship and am looking at covers for the boat. The bow and cockpit covers are in decent shape, but I'm looking for a little more coverage since I trailer my boat weekly and I store it outside during season. Any recommendations on a decent cover that will not break the bank?

Have used a Westland cover made from Sharkskin for the last four years. Keeps the boat dry and they fit very well. You can buy them on Iboats.com. Just look up your year and model. Awesome customer service as well.

I'm looking for a custom cover for the 205 I'm picking up. Iboats seems to have the best prices on custom covers and free shipping right now.

The question is...material?

I'm in Florida and the boat will be stored outdoors. I don't care about the cover fading, I care about the UV rays going through the cover and effecting the vinyl and gelcoat. Sunbrella is just too dang expensive, what's the deal with the sharkskin lineup? Any opinions?

I would like to go with Sunbrella, but I am also not willing to spend the grand that they want for one. I will probably order a shark skin in the next few weeks. I am more worried about mildew during storage on the off season. It will be trailered in a wharehouse for winter, but I did that with my last boat thinking it would be fine, and I had alot of mildew on my seats when I uncovered my boat for the first time the next season. Any recommendations for this?

I love the Sharkskin as it is light and very, very water resistant. It however does not breath so make sure your cover comes with vents. Mine has four vents and never had a mildew issue at all.

What grade is your cover? I noticed it comes in 3 flavors.

Mine is what they now call the Plus. Their warranty is amazing. I had my original for three years. Last spring, one of the "loops" where the straps connect ripped out. I called Westland, they asked I send pictures. I did, and in three days from my call I had a brand new cover with all new straps as they had changed the design since I had bought mine. The new cover was free of charge and did not even want my old cover back. Top notch place if you ask me.

This is also my second Sharkskin cover. Had one for my 205 Sundowner also. I have a few vents laying around, let me know if yours does not come with them and I am sure we can work something out. I have two of these somewhere in my garage:

So i'm going to order my cover and have narrowed it down to two. Westland has a custom fit cover without vents and poles and then they have a semi custom cover with vents and poles. They are both sharkskin plus and both within 50 dollars of each other. My biggest worry is mildew during winter storage as my last boat was covered with mildew after I uncovered it last year. The custom fit will fit better but will it breathe well enough without vents to prevent mildew? Anyone had any experience with this?

Mine is/was the semi-custom with the vents. Never had any issue with mold/mildew but I also take other precautions. I put in a lot of DampRid bags or buckets to absorb the moisture.
