Just to be fair, I'll start.
Done it once, Wife called me on the cell phone before I got to the top of the ramp. The ski locker was already starting to fill before I backed back down. Pump worked as advertised, but definitely does not keep up.
I did have a storm at Lake Powell rain so much, so fast that it turned on the pump.

Did it once almost 20 years ago with my first boat a 1969 16 foot Lone Star with a 60HP and no bilge pump. While my wife and I were launching it, BEFORE I unhooked the winch line, I noticed the water almost over the transom, I just calmly started cranking her back on the trailer, while my wife watched befuddled. That's when we created the five point checklist before backdown at the ramp. Plug, motor up, fenders attached, dock lines attached and outboard lock removed. Used the 5 points ever since and hasn't happened again. Good to have a first mate who helps with these kind of things.

You are so right about having a good first mate. We have our system for the ramp as well. :D :D :D Good communication is the key.
Sometimes we will just hang out at the top of the ramp to be entertained by some of the "couples".

Does leaving the live well fill pump running count....result is same. I did that and came inches from swamping boat.

My father's mooring is about 100 yards from a boat ramp. The ramp would never be built by today's standards. It is a short, steep ramp on a busy road. We have been known to crack a beer and sit at the mooring in the boat and watch. Never fails to amaze me. This is not a ramp for novices, and there is no other public ramp on the lake = endless entertainment!
