I have a 210 H180 with Volvo penta 4.3 I brought it in to marina in January for its first 100 hour service. I asked the shop to look into 3 or 4 minor issues I've been having, and gave them a copy of my extended VP which I purchased for around $1500 when I bought the boat new in September 2009. The shop called me back a few days later and said that each of the four items was covered by the warranty. Excellent, I thought. I'll be out the 700 or so for the 100 hour service but nothing further. When the shop called back to say the work was done, they said the warranty wouldn't agree to cover all the labor. Apparently they only cover a certain number of hours for certain repairs (ex. 1.5 to cover changing a pump, etc.), and nothing further. My mechanic says it took them longer to fix the issues than the time allotted by warranty, both because of time needed to troubleshoot and then sea trials afterward. The shop is on the water but about 20 minutes from the point where the driver can open the throttle. Anyway, the bill came out to $1500 which included the 100 hour service, but was still a shocker. I didn't know about the allotted labor hour thing. When the shop said the repairs were covered by warranty, I took that to mean no cost to me for the repairs. If I had known there was going to be a charge, I could have chosen to forego or postpone the repairs. Instead I'm going to have to put it on a credit card which I'm not thrilled about. Anyone have experience with this situation before? I like the marina and I'm trying to see it from their point of view, but dang. Not sure what to think or do about it.
