I dinked the prop at the end of the season and I will get the current one fixed but wanted to purchase another new one and keep the old as a backup. I can't tell by any markings on the prop what size it is. Boat is a 1994 H180 with the 5.0L Cobra. Outdrive is volvo SX.

We do mostly pulling (skiers, tubes, etc) and our lake is relatively small so high end speed isnt' that important to me.

Thanks!

Your current prop could be the best starting point. Markings are usually around the hub, but if there are no markings, a good propeller shop could identify it. Then you could stay the same, or go up or down in pitch as desired.

So I have a 14.5x19 3-blade prop on it currently. Could I go to a 4-blade prob to get a better hole shot and just stick with the same pitch?

I was thinking about this one:

Thoughts?

What is your boats maximum RPM at WOT?
The Amita 4 is a great value prop'.

So we learn new things everyday. I assumed the prop I had one it was original but I called FW and found out different.

Customer service said the original prop size for my engine was 4.25x21.

WOT should be 4000-4400. I haven't ever had this bout with the correct prop...maybe just do that vs. go with a 4 blade?

Without knowing YOUR boat's maximum RPM, your guess is as good as anyone elses!

Got the boat wet for the first time this year and got to try out the new prop. It was COLD up here in CT so I didn't really get a chance to see if I noticed a performance difference (hole shot) but I guess time will tell.

I used a digital tachometer to measure the RPMs at WOT and got about 3800- 3850. FW says my boat should is safe to around 4000-4500.

Sorry to sound harsh, but you came here asking for advice & I asked a very critical question for an accurate prop' recommendation.
You failed to give the info', bought a new prop & now wonder why your target RPM is not correct?!
Out of curiosity, what prop' did you think was the right one for your specific boat?

Deaf...

I called FW and purchased the prop the boat was designed to have. We don't have facilities like some do where we can try out different props until an optimized one can be chosen. i went with the prop as specified by FW and these were the results I got (for anyone else who has this engine/outdrive combo).

Just posting my result. Not looking for your specific feedback or input.

Is that you Ric???
