Four Winns trailer cough ugly faded galvanized trailer

My FW trailer is galvanized and Gatorhyded from new and 7 years later it still looks perfect. I have looked real close and no signs of any rust at all and almost all of my boating is in salt water.

It will rust from the inside out.

Just thinking...if its going to rust from inside out then you wouldn't know there's an issue until its trashed anyway. Why is it OK for truck beds and not trailers?

Because its better than paint getting scraped off exposing bare metal.

FW galvanized trailers are hot dipped and the galvanizing is on both the inside of the frame and the outside. You'll notice holes in each beam to allow the galvanizing bath penetrate inside each rail.

Ric is right about painted trailers (any type, not just FW), they typically rust from the inside out, and usually you don't spot anything until its too late and the trailer sags in the middle! Definitely not what you want to use in salt water - they'd last about 4-5 years at best I would imagine.

I feel severely disadvantaged as my trailer is not murdered out at all Mike... :shock:
