Hi Guys, I just bought a pristine 1993 Horizon 210 with a 5.8 omc. My question, is it normal when you engage the boat from the neutral position into gear to hear " Click, click, click", before the boat goes on its way. Could the outdrive need a cable adjustment? Or low fluid level? Or is that normal for Omc?

Not normal. Either you need a cable adjustment or a new transom cable.
I have the same system and just recently learned how to adjust it. Not easy the first time because the factory manual while good makes it more complex than it really is. It takes 3 special OMC tools, or at least 2 of them for the cable and the drive has to be off.
Mine shifts great, very easy thunk into gear 2 finger pressure out of gear. These units should shift very easy, if not something is not right. No clicking or grinding.

I noticed a turn screw on the shift cable, would turning it in or out adjust the cable?

To start: need 3 OMC tools, one to set the shift rod height, one to hold the pivot housing bell rank at 90* and one to set the actual cable adjustment.
You start with the drive off, and measure the shift rod height on the lower unit with tool #1.
Then you remove the cable retainer at the pivot housing and install tool #2. The go back in the boat and set the cable at 7 9/16ths with tool #3. Then go back down to the pivot housing and re-install the cable retainer. Re install the drive and now you have to adjust the remote cable according to the shop manual. Look at my posts on iboats and see if you're up to it. If not you need to find a real OMC mechanic.

I may need adjusting, but before that I would like to mention that this shift system, while called a "clutch dog" is not a "clutch" at all.

Do not be timid about shifting from neutral to forward (or neutral to reverse). Push the control lever quickly from neutral to forward idle. One "Klunk" is a lot better for the system than a lot of "click, click, click"

If the "Klunk" seams harsh, your idle may be too high, which is very easy to adjust on a carburated engine.

As luck would have it I have a fuel injected system, I haven't researched idle adjustment yet

I don't know how to adjust the FI models but I do set mine to idle at about 550 rpm in gear in the water.

I would think that a F.I. system would have a simple adjustment screw for the idle also...but I've never had one so I don't know for sure.
