Hello All,

I just purchased an 07 Horizon 200 with 139 hrs. Friday can't get here soon enough! The original owner says he added a performance chip that boosted HP from 220 to 240. The little bit I've read on the chip manuf's website suggests this does not harm the engine, rather it boosts HP 15% and improves fuel economy. So, that's the pitch. What is the verdict on these things? Also thinking about changing prop to stainless. Thanks in advance for the replies.

snake oil. The only way to improve performance is to hook up a computer with MEFI software and adjust the maps.

Restore it to stock and save yourself a bunch of trouble down the road. Oh, and pull off the Mr. Gasket stickers.

Congratulations on the purchase.

He said stickers!

Were you able to change you shift points too!

Welcome to the smartass section of the forum. I hope you are not offended and able to toss it back!

This IS one of the times I agree with Ric. A 20' boat with a 4.3 is a bit underpowered IMO. However, you get a SS prop that matches pitch of your Alum, and you can ditch the chip. It's all about putting power to the water, and running an alum prop is like being on skinny tires.

Those ebay performance chips usually fool the computer the engine is cold and it tricks it into injecting more fuel. 20 hp ahahhaaha. More like 1-5 if the conditions are ideal. On a hot day, it will actually decrease HP in the magnitude of 5-10. Also hurts the fuel consumption.

Please take that crap off. If you're serious about getting more HP you're not going to do it with the factory fuel injection, the air intake is too small. You'll need to convert to a 4bbl carb with a good intake, cam, and head work. That will put you closer to the 300hp mark but you'll be dedicated to 91-93 octane fuel.

Yeah I don't disagree about the prop either. SS is always good as long as you aren't in "risky" waters.

The previous owner likely sold because in his little tuner mind, he expected his chip to turn his FW into a 40' Cigarette. What a disappointment that must have been.

Well, damn it. I thought those stickers got me an extra 5 mph. As long I feel fast, guess that's all that matters. I'm happy to toss the chip! SS prop it shall be. Kerr Lake runs deep, so I'm not concerned about hitting anything, except the occasional skier  . I'll take baby steps for now and see how she does. I'm just happy to be back on the water and very impressed with the build quality of this FW. Thanks a bunch fellas. Look forward to learning more about this boat.

Welcome to the forum! Consider adding your boat & location info to your profile, it will help a lot if/when you ever have questions. Oh, and the golden rule here is, pics or it never happened.

Done. I'll post boat pic once the deluge ceases and do a polish and wax.

Okay, so I have not yet removed this aftermarket tuning chip put in by original owner. My prop is a solas rubex 14.5x19 (alum). With 2 adults, 2 teens, and a cooler full, this past weekend we did 50 mph at 4800 WOT. Didn't have a GPS to confirm, but I know we were flying. Just wanted to compare with any other h200's with similar or different setups.

Thanks for the feedback,
