see these are the responses i desire.. 1" seemed so huge lol.. I will for sure have to experiment with some cheap PVC clamped in place first.

Finally I found an example of what i am envisioning.. this is a 1995. and i like how the sun pad is done.. now if i can figure out the freaking hinges.. I see them but need to see the hatch open and the shape of the hinge.. May require a phone call to FW if one of y'all does not chime in.

Think I am happy with how the uphulstury layout is going. I have to decide on an off white /very light gray for the diamond stitch insert. Also have to decide on thread color of the cross stitching, white, gray, blue. The piping will pull in the blue. So I do not know if the cross stitching in blue will be too much blue. THOUGHTs

The floor will be fresh white nonskid, the majority of the material is white as shown with touched of blue piping.
