New to the forum. I just purchased a 2000 Horizon 170. Boat is like new. It was always stored in a garage and is spotless. My question is how are the platforms on the fish and ski packages mounted to the hull? I am going to make a shelf that looks like the original out of composite material. Is the shelf just screwed to the inside wall or is it through bolted? If anyone that has one of the fish and ski package on this Era boat could let me know some details I would greatly appreciate it!
THANKS!
Shawn

That didn't answer the OP's questions at all. However, that is one cool trolling motor!

I looked at the parts book and I can't find anything related to the mounting of the trolling motor. It's quite literally just bolted to the front using whatever hardware came factory with the trolling motor that was installed at the time.

Doing a google search, pretty much every H170 F&S has a different mounting method to whatever trolling motor was installed at the time. There is no "standard" way of doing it or "standard" trolling motor that was sold. I'm pretty sure it was a dealer installed option, not factory. Some look better than others.

Just don't hook it up to your engine starting battery. Install two 6v 220aH golf cart batteries in series to create 12v 220ah of power, connected to the factory charging system using an isolator to charge while under power, and onboard battery charger with a hull mounted charging plug. Don't use 12v deep cycle batteries for a trolling motor they don't last nearly as long and cost twice as much (it would require 4 $200 12v deep cycle optimas to equal the power of two $70 golf cart batteries).

I have looked a bit. The fish and ski horizons have a flat platform that is added that mine does not have. It is just a shelf that is a seperate piece. I was wondering if it was just screwed to the side wall or if it was bolted there through an access port. I just wanted to know is screwing into the side would be strong enough.

Wish i could afford one of those trolling motors! But my. Budget only allowed for a powerdrive v2. Lol

When I had a 2000 H180 I mounted my Magma grill mount up in the bow. the fiberglass is fairly thick in those areas but I highly suggest you use stainless steel bolts, nylon lock nuts, and extra large washers. The front seats come off really easy (screws on the bottom and lift up). There should be some access holes, if not make some. They'll be covered by the seats.

If possible use starboard as the platform. Avoid wood.
