New to the sight ... new to a 20 ft 98 Horizon as well !!!

I just purchased a Humingbird combo unit / I'm thinking about putting a threw the hull transducer in the back part of the storage locker between the front seats.

Has anyone tried this ???

It's best to just have one out back in the water. You get water temp that way too. Use stainless steel screws and don't be shy with 3M 5200. It will never leak.

My next boat will get a Sonarphone T-Box

I have a Faria in dash digital depth gauge and in hull transducer. It woukd freaking perfectly. Spot on tues to my buddies boat with in water Lowrance elite 7 transducer. If you follow the instructions, and set the correct morbing angle and the beam angle for the ducer direction it will be fine. Love having a clean transome with nothing but the stupid petcock for the speedo. Which I freaking hate seeing back their.

In hull for the Win.

I too hate the transducer on the transom if you don't have to. I installed a shoot through on my last boat and worked great. I read somewhere how to test it. It might even be in the instructions. I put it in a plastic bag filled with water and laid it in the spot i thought would work. I put a brick on top so it wouldn't move. After testing I marked the spot and epoxy'd it down. I had no problem with it working through all speeds.
Just make sure you don't have a cored hull. The shoot through will not work if there is any air in the hull structure.
