I am having a problem with one of the fitting on our fresh water tank. Whatever water I put in leaks out in a day or two. My wife is allergic to the pollen in the lake so she likes to use the transom spray to clean off after a dip. I have traced the problem to the fitting that connects the tank to the pump. Does anyone know how these fitting work? Are they some kind of pressure fittings? It is a tough place to reach and I do not want to make it any worse.

My fitting was just a compression fitting. Mine leaked right from the factory, but it was just not seated properly.

Both my 2004 Sundowner and 2009 Vista had/ have push fit pipework for the water system. (blue for cold, red for hot). On the Sundowner water tank there was a push fit to threaded adapter screwed onto a boss; I can't remember whether it was sealed using PTPE tape on the thread or used a washer.

The pipe to push fit couplings can leak ( but not always fall apart) if the pipe has not quite been pushed in as far as they need to be or the end of the pipe has been cut at an angle..

I had a leak last year on one of my fittings. I came here and someone suggested to just try pushing it together. They are the press type on pex type hose. It worked and hasn't leaked since.
