We recently bought a 2002 Horizon 200. looks to me as though the steering wheel hub cover is missing; however, a couple of people think it's just the way they look. I have a photo of it, but am brand new to this forum and can't figure out how to attach my image   See, I can't even get emoticons to work.

Is anyone familiar with models that old? or can someone tell me why I can't get my image of the wheel to attach?[

Welcome, Chris!
Try hosting your photos on a site such as Photobucket.
It's easy, free and safe to use.
Oh & it may be an ideal opportunity to upgrade the wheel to something a little nicer than the bland factory wheel?! 8)

Cheers.

To post an image you need to use a hosting service such as photobucket and then cut and paste a IMG link. There will be an icon there to get the link once you click on a picture.

I have an h200 '07 and my steering wheel hub cover is plastic with a circle of thin fake leather or vinyl which has fallen off many times. I have yet to find the type of glue that works the best to get it back on good so mine is currently off as well. This was the upgraded "stainless steel" steering wheel which I paid extra for... :-( Hindsight is 20/20... I wish I would have gone with the plain generic steering wheel. I might need an upgrade here as well.

I just took that off last night and glued it back on with 'Shoe Goo'. I hope it works, it looks trashy when a flap is exposed. I noted that some of the 'chrome' is starting to flake on the edges exposing the white plastic underneath. I wonder is someone sells an aftermarket one made of Stainless or Aluminum?

On my 2009 boat with that wheel, the black central bit is a one piece plastic moulding with an integral grain.

The outer chromed part on mine was chrome painted metal diecasting; The chrome came off in places and there was corrosion underneath. It looked horrible. I thought of stripping it and spray painting it, but couldn't get the rest of the chrome off without damaging the soft diecasting underneath.

If they have gone to a chrome plated plastic, that chrome is easy to remove; just leave it soaking is 7-8% hydrochloric acid ( I did that with the Mazda symbol removed from some aftermarket Mazda wheel centres on my wife's car winter wheels; the whole corroding metal plating came off and I sprayed them with primer and satin black paint)).

Thanks for that - when it gets unsightly, that is exactly what I will do.
