I have a 2000 Horizon 200 running a 5.7 MPI Mag with a bravo 1. At WOT throttle I am running 4300 rpm roughly. I am wondering if this is a prop issue or an engine issue. I am running a 23 pitch prop right now. I am thinking I am over propped for my boat since four winns is calling out a 21 pitch for my boat. I had the outdrive redone last year and now I am having an issue of "slipping". Before everyone jumps down my throat I have tried two different props and two different hub kits. My tech is saying they have had this issue with this drive and two things fixed it the wrong oil and roughing the clutch up ?

Any one heard of these things. I am not really buying it.

Sorry for all the post I am new to boating and just trying to learn.

You gave us the pitch, but what is the diameter of your prop?

If stock diameter, I agree that it is over-propped.

Last year, in our 2000 H180 w/5.0 Gi 250 hp we went from a SS 14.25 x 23p to a SS 14 x 21p and loved it. The issue with the 14.25 x 23p was it appeared to be over-propped with top speed coming at 4200-4400 RPM. The new prop had the same top speed but comes around 4800 RPM, right where it is supposed to be. The hole-shot was much improved as well. Plus it looked nice and shiny.

As far as the diameter. I am unclear it was what came on the boat it looks to be stock.
