Yeah, really. That why I picked up an extra set of tools specifically for changing impellers. I got down in there and figured out what was needed. Then picked up some cheapies from Sears and Harbor Freight. I believe it ended up being two sockets, a ratchet and a pair of box-end wrenches. I keep them in a ziploc baggie along with a couple of those extra silica gel packets. I sprayed 'em with a shot of BOEShield to keep corrosion away (but you could just as easily use WD-40). Now if/when I need to replace an impeller I'll *know* I can do it without trouble. I've no desired to have an impeller ruin the afternoon, take a couple hours to get towed back and then bend over for the labor.
As an aside, I keep those tools in a plastic 'ammo box'. It fits perfectly between the engine stringers. It was around $15 from a local army surplus kind of store. It's also where I stow a couple of the rarely used bigger tools, like long screwdrivers, wrenches and a hammer. This lets me keep a much smaller toolbox under the head sink (pliers, screwdrivers, etc). The box is also about the same size as a battery, but a bit taller. So look around your engine compartment, there may be room for stashing one.
