Hey all,
I just recently ordered the infinity tower speaker combo (which includes the amp). I plan on doing the install myself and was wondering if someone could give me an idea of what to expect during the install. Is it possible for me to run the wire through the tower myself and if so how do I go about that. The tower came with my H190 and the bimini top is built into the tower with a black cover used to hold it closed when not using. How do I modify the cover to slip over the speakers when the top is not being used. Do I have to use marine grade cables (i.e. power cables) and do I just hook up the negative cable to the battery negative terminal for the ground or can I ground the amp closer to where I plan on installing it (under starboard front seat). Anyone who can shed some light would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Maybe some pics would help us get the creative juices flowing.

My '07 Horizon manual does show the factory wiring harness with some good detail, you might check out what FW does in your manual. Typically marine wire is recommended, with ground going to the negative battery terminal or a grounding stud on the engine. Sizing of the cable depends on the anticipated amp draw and distance of the run. In general, one wants to provide circuit protection on the hot side within 10" of the battery.

I will hopefully be getting down to the install tomorrow and I will post pictures. I am not too worried about the wiring of the amp, I just don't have a clue how to install the wiring to the speakers through the tower tube. I think I may install the wiring on the outside until I can get the time to take it to the dealer or audio shop. Did anyone get tower speakers installed from the dealer?

Clotus.... Have no fear man... You have some tower install options...

What I would recommend... Install the speakers where you want them on the tower. Then, find the most inconspicuous and least-likely-to-get-water spot on the tower where you can drill a small hole to run the wires in. You'll want to determine which side of the tower (probably the same side as the amp) where you will drill an "exit" hole on the tower unless there is a spot available already. THen you drill a small hole in the side of your boat to get the wires inside the hull and wire things up. Pick up some appropriately sized rubber grommets for the tower openings. That will protect your wiring. FOr the hole in the hull - some people have opted for a "quick disconnect" of some sort that is marine rated. If you don't go that route, then use a waterproof grommet and you can get a marine rated chrome cap/cover type of thing - see boaters world or West Marine. Same concept that would be used on bigger boats when there is an antenna mounted on the side.

Just make sure you don't make the holes bigger than you need to... and I can't stress enough to be aware of the rubber grommets and put the holes on the tower in areas where water can't just leak into the tower (think rain).

It's not brain surgery... just take it slow and easy. Start with a small drill bit and work your way up.

Its very simple man. I can take pics later today but I used a roswell speaker box/light bar so i only had to drill one small hole at the top. The a small hole where the 2 pieces of the tower meet. Then another where the tower meets the hull. Its very inconspicuos. You will need fish tape to run the wires. I also put the amp under the flip up seat in the bow right behind the gauges it fits perfect and will not get wet. Finally silicone some rubber grommets where you drilled the holes so no water will get in and the cut aluminum will not cut your wires. I just wrapped all my wires together with super 33 electrical tape. It has held up great and i am in salt water.

Thanks for all the help guys. Me and the father-in-law did the install yesterday. I mounted the amp under the helm where there is a perfect smooth shelf that Velcro mounted it very well but leaves it easily removed. I also ran the wire through the tube following the light on top of the tower (factory installed). Hopefully there will be no noise from the engine I turn the boat on (fingers crossed).
