I'm always looking for ways to improve my boat. In all candor, I think almost all boats are lacking a lot coming from the factory. Here's 2 things I did this year that should be no brainers from the factory and wouldn't cost a thing.

First- added velco straps to hold the cockpit table mount in place. Not even sure if there is a designed area for it but for as little as we use it I thought under the cooler was good except there was nothing to hold it in place. $3 for a couple nice straps that had a little loop that made screwing them on to the brace easy. Used finishing washers (left over from my stereo upgrade) to clamp them down in place.

Viola. Did this while the admiral went to grab a bag of ice while at the dock.

Next complaint- how the bimini poles rub on each other and are not held in place in a nice "stack". Solution = 2 more of those white clips for the the front bows when folded up. Strategically placed so the thin part acts like a buffer between the poles. Bows now don't rub and look like new (since they were replaced this winter by FW).

Before- you can see how the bows all lay on each other.

After- they are kept apart and stacked nicely.

What do you have? I need more ideas!

Nice! I need to do the Velcro thing too. I've got some extra straps that look just like that but they don't have the mounting holes. I've never seen those.

On the bimini, I already had the white clips but I think that's because of the differences between the '05 and '06 bimini design.

I'm diggin' that new carpet.

Those velcro straps just happened to be at the counter at the local marine store. I don't recall if they were marketed for any particular purpose but I knew as soon as I saw them that they'd be perfect for that.

You know what I love about that carpet? The two pieces. Here's another reason I learned this past weekend why its great. When it rains really hard with the camper top up I get water that drains from the area between the winsheild and the bow cover into the cockpit and on to the floor. The old carpet used to get soaked right above the ski locker and works its way down. Now, I can unsnap right there, roll the bow piece towards the front and any water that drains in goes right to the ski locker and out the bilge. Keeps the cockpit much drier.

When you need new carpet, Mike, I'd recommend going with the new stuff. But I still need to get a hole for my table mount made.

Thanks for the tip on the white clips. I've been looking for the double clip that I've seen on a few, and have only seen the single white ones that say they're windshield protectors.

The straps they sell at any boat place that work perfect are actually sold for ski or tube rope straps. I bought a few extra and have used them for about everything. Cheap and easy.....thanks cincy
