Hi, new member who just purchased the first boat I've owned on my own. It's a 98 Horizon 180 RX with the 4.3. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the differences between the RX and RS models. Mine has the carbed 4.3 so thought maybe the RS was EFI or is it just supposed to have nicer fit and finish inside?

Thanks,
Nubby

Congratulations on your boat purchase. You can learn a lot on this site but pictures will be demanded shortly. :D

As far as the differences here are links to the 98 Horizon specs from four winns for both the RS and the RX. You will have to cut and paste the address as the .pdf doesn't follow the hyperlink. To my untrained eye the RX is todays standard model whereas the RS is the sunsport seating model. If you have two seats on the rear of the boat as opposed to a large sun deck I may be right. Atleast other than an extra inch of height thats all I'm seeing. But look for yourself, good info on your boat. You can find this on http://www.fourwinns.com under past product information (specs)

Hey...another RX owner, Welcome!

I looked at my RX and an RS at the same time and the RS had a V8 with EFI, sunsport seating, and the single gauge cluster. The RX was better taken care of, so that's what I went with. I think the hulls were essentially the same.

Well I finally figured it out...

Both RS and RX have identical hulls. The only real difference is the fit and finish. The RS has the stainless cup holders and handles, stainless bow rails, and the one piece gauge set. The RX has plastic cupholders, non-stainless handles, no bow rails and the individual gauges.

If I could change 1 thing (besides having EFI instead of the carb) I would make the deck over the motor on my Sunsport pckg 1 piece that flips up instead of the two "wings" that fold out allowing water to seep in between and drip on the motor when they're down. Other than that, it's been a great boat for the past month.

Ditto!

My first (real) boat in my 1998 Rx. w/ the 4.3.

So far, I like it a lot.

When I shopped around, my 1998 Rx was the best bang for the buck. The previous owner had taken very good care of mine. I really enjoy this boat.
