Guys, here is my dilemma. 2 yrs ago I left my boat berthed at our campsite for the summer. During this time I suffeed substantial damage from a muskrat, it ate my exhaust bellows, trim gauge wire, and speedo tube. Is there anything that can be done to avoid this from happening in the future.

Dont leave it in the slip.

No seriously though...I was looking in my Four Winns manual the other day, it says to put trays of rat poison in various places around the boat....not sure if that will work or not.

That would work if the damage was from the inside, but the critter was chewing on this from in the water behind the boat. Cost almost 600 bucks to get it repaired.

Well, the obvious solution is to get a lift. If that's not possible, I'm afraid that my ideas regress to sectioning off your drive unit with a chicken wire box in an attempt to keep the muskrat at a safe distance. However it's likely the muskrat is willing and able to spend a lot more time on this dispute than you are, and may be able to overcome such obstacles.
