After much consideration, I called the dealer today and ordered the five extra years of warranty. Like all the other warranties I have bought over the years, that should pretty much guarantee that nothing will go wrong with the boat until after it expires. Now I'll have to think of something else to worry about while I wait to launch. I envy our American friends to the south that don't have this six months of winter crap that we have. The Inland lakes near Parry Sound still have ice.

I hate to say this but the only guarantee is that something will break b4 the warranty is up. Its the nature of owning a boat. I have the 2+4 on my volvo penta and have used it 3 times. Well worth it IMHO.

Bit the bullet and bought the Merc 5-year warranty extension earlier this week. It's not that I'm hoping something will go wrong, but I'd like to know that I got my 2 grand worth. :(

Oh well, here's to wise investments!

Wow a lot of you guys are getting extended warranties. For those of you that use the warranty, whats breaking and how much is it saving you for the costs of repair? Just curious.

p.s. - Pete's sake - congrats on your H180. I've been very happy with mine so far. The 3.0 has plenty of power for our family. Even with 7 adults onboard its done fine. My old 20' boat had a 350 mag which was cool but not as practical.

I was never even offered a warranty extension... maybe they don't do this in Australia? :?:

Welcome Pete
I took delivery of my H180 3.0 merc running a 19inch ss prop in January . You will love it they are a great boat and from all accounts the motors are tried and tested. No complaints with the drivetrain here we use the boat for waterskiing etc.
