Well, it's been a rather cold spring/early summer with temps only getting to the 50's. Today was one of the first nice days (low-mid 70's) so we decided to take the boat out for the maiden voyage of the season. It was a nice sunny day with little to no wind. I figured we should go somewhere familiar to get back in the groove of things. We trailered over to the public launch on Lake Skegemog. Fortunately not many people there as we got there around 1. The water was definately too cold to do any water sports, so we thought a cruise we be best. We headed up Torch River to Torch Lake. Then zipped up to Clam River/Lake. The plan was to run Grass River into Lake Bellaire then turn around. Unfortunately, we got detoured a bit. We found a fellow boater with an H210 dead in the water. It appeared that he wasn't sucking in any water and over heated. I offered a tow which fortunately was only about a mile back on Clam Lake. We got them back to their dock and decided we better start the return trip. We cruised all the way back to the launch only to sit waiting to pull out for about 20 minutes. Apparently it is free fishing weekend here in MI and some boaters were taking a bunch of kids out fishing. Not a big deal, we just floated around for a bit and then pulled out. Overall, a great day with no problems launching and only a slight problem retrieving...had to make a 2nd run at the launch ramp as the current was getting strong.
