Before I started using this forum I was completely unaware of the winterizing process that so many of you have to do to protect your engines from damage.
I decided that I might share with you how I chose to winterize this year.( below freezing temps are rare here in South Oz) The Admiral took these pics on Saturday (Two days before the winter solstice) . It wasn't the idea day to go for a spin as it was a bit overcast, but there is advantages of regularly using the boat
1) Keeps the battery charged
2) I top up the fuel after, so it prevents it going stale
3) Mechanical things seem to like regular use
4) Not convinced. OKAY IT WAS FUN!!!!! do I need any other excuse?

Glad to see yor still getting some use out of your new boat! That looks like a late September run for us around here (maybe early October) but definitely not a Northern hemisphere winter solstice run!

Congratulations on a fun filled season. How many hours did you put on the new boat?

The new boat ( now 6 months old but still new for us) has 49 hours on the clock. Hind sight has 20/20 vision, the photos were taken on the Saturday, if I had taken it out on the Sunday the weather was sunny and around 70 to 75 degrees. All in all a good time was had by all

Nice shots and pleased to see the boat getting its legs stretched on the river.

Agree on the winterising issue - jeez we are lucky downunder to not have to go through what sounds like quite a bit of effort and cost. We just park her up and dream about the return of spring/summer

My boat is stored inside a warehouse so it stays dry and out of the elements year round. It had not been used since Easter so I started her up on muffs after a 10 week break and she fired up no problems.

The temps here in Auckland have been pretty low over the last few weeks (by our standards) around 3c (37f) overnight and around 12c (55f) during the day. On this basis activities like wakeboarding are not looking likely!

Cant wait for summer to return so the family and I can get back into the boating lifestyle.
