Hi Jay,
I keep my boat in the water from May until October so I know what you're saying. I bring a telescopic washing brush like I use on my truck up to the lake with me once in a while. It can reach all the way under the boat so I can give it a good wiping every few weeks. I find that most of the grime comes off pretty easy unless you pull it out of the water and let it dry.
In the fall, after you pull it out, you can spray it down with Slimygrimy, let it soak for a little while and then use some car wash and the same brush to wash it down. Looks like new.
Most Marina's will do an acid treatment also, but I think there are differing opinions on that.
