I'm contemplating on ordering a carport to put in our backyard to store our boat, 2006 H210. Height on the trailer is 10'2 with the tower up and only 7'8 with it down. If possible, I would like to be able to lower the tower when it's stored. I've read a few posts on how it's a pain to lower but I didn't see any instructions online.

The boat is at my in-laws a couple hours away but I'm going to pick it up this weekend. I remember seeing a couple knobs but I don't remember what direction it lays and if it will harm the covers or boat finish. I've only had the boat for a little over a week so any help would be appreciated!

I have basically the same boat and tower as you. It is a PITA to lower. The knobs on the rear get un-done, and pivot the tower forward. I do not believe this is a one-person job, nor is is easy to deal with.... while the cover is on; or While uncovered, and then putting the cover on. I have thought about, but never tried undoing the forward pivot bolts, then laying the tower down on the aft end. I don't think that would work either, and probably more difficult to get back up. Sorry, I would not recommend doing it!

Let me know what you figure out. I have a bridge I can't get under and would like to figure out a quick way to lower the forward sweep arch so I can go listen to the music at the pavilion that is on the other side of the bridge. Or wait until the lake goes down 10 inches at the end of September. BTW, my arch is mounting with allen head bolts so no knobs to quickly turn and remove...

If you only need a foot or two to get under a bridge you can undo the bottom rear post knobs and loosen the top rear post knobs then fold the bottoms of the rear posts up thus lowering the tower toward the rear. Should be very easy compared to flipping forward for removal but I don't know how much it will lower in this direction - I haven't had a need to try it.

I have to take the tower off to get it in my garage and it is a pain but only takes 5 or 10 minutes. It is definately a 2 person job- My wife and I do it together.

1) Undo the bottom knobs at the aft pole connections - they sit in pockets of sorts so they won't go anywhere with the knobs out.
2) Loosen the foreward connection points only a turn or two.
3) I have the bow fill in cushions on my 210 so I lie them over the gunwales up front in case the thing gets away from me. If I didn't use them I would drape a bunch of life jackets or some such just in case. I have a pair of heavy cardboard pieces that I keep around because I am scared of something slipping and popping out a window so I lay them over hte glass.
4) I then tip it forward - which is really lifting it up before it will go forward. Here is where it gets tricky because it will now get too tall for you to handle and it is too akward to control by holding onto one side or even both sides I suspect.
I lift it to where it is basically balancing on the forward posts and my wife will hold it steady. Then I go to the bow seating and stand on the hull in front of the base of the windshield where I can reach the top of it and then lower it forward onto the bow.
5) I then remove the bolts securing the forward legs and I stick a screwdriver in each hole - screwdriver handle to the outside just so the tower doesn't slip off as I am getting out of the boat.
6) Once outside, with my wife and I each on one side we can easily hold the tower with one hand and pull out our screwdrivers with the other. We then just pick it up and carry it off, it really is not very heavy - even with the bimini, board racks, etc left on.
7) Watch out for 4 white nylon washers (2 per side) that will fall out of the forward post brackets - you need them when you put the tower back on. By the way, the washers are easier to get back in when the tower is back on and in its final upright position. They are almost impossible to get them all in while the tower is flipped forward.
8) I take all the knobs / bolts / washers and put them re-install them in thier apropriate places so I won't be looking for them in the spring.

Thanks for the detailed instructions! I will either purchase a shelter tall enough for the tower or have a custom cover made...too much trouble to take the tower down all the time.

FW's factory towers are all a POS!!! I have to lower mine each and every time when storing it. The dumb thing was never designed to be in the down position, nor can it be trailered either. My plastic washers fell off immediately and they are a pain to re-install so I left them off altogether. I'm not sure whether they are needed or not. Everything seems to be OK without them though. Believe it or not, I've managed to lower the massive thing all by myself because the admiral is a wimp. I bought one of those foam egg shell bed liners and folded it up to rest the tower posts on so they don't damage my cover or my boat. It seems to work for me and I'm not a very big guy. If you can, find a place to store it in the upright position so you don't have to deal with this!!! Good luck!

I folded it down to store it in my last garage 7' door. Ended up removing it completely from the support legs. Definately a pain. (lost 1 plastic washer too).

8' door would allow you to only fold the tower down. I's still a pain though. I'd rather spend the $ on a nice custom cover than deal with it. Luckily my current house has 10' doors on the shop & the tow point clears by 1". The slope going up into the shop is the reason for this.

Pull those allen bolts and arch will fold right down.
