The SL series is supposed to stand for Sport and Luxury, but, in reality, it is the initials of Steve Lumpe, the long time boat designer for Cobalt that Four Winns hired to design boats. Unfortunately, Steve passed away suddenly before the first SL series rolled out of production. However, his design team finished it and brought them to market.
Hmmm, the designer for the SL262 you mention is not listed on the copyright documentation filed in 2008. They list the Chief Engineer at Four Winns and Pete Granata as designers.
The original copyright documentation can be seen in this PDF.
http://www.copyright.gov/vessels/regs/dvh0393.pdfI believe Pete is alive and well. He is one of the nations foremost recreational boat designers and President of MDRA (Marine Designers Resource Alliance) He also designed the X-Star boats for Mastercraft, among others.

Steve Lumpe was the director of engineering for Cobalt Boats, and he may have had some influence on the SL design, but not sure how much. Here is one of the concept boats Steve helped design for Cobalt back in 2002.
