I have a 1998 Four Winns Horizon RS with the 5.0GL (Charcoal) engine and the Cobra SX drive. The carbeurator cover says Volvo Penta, the model number sticker has OMC on it an says 5.0GLPBYC I think. On the Volvo Penta website I can find this motor, but when I look for an aftermarket do-it-yourself book like a Seloc, I don't know if I get an OMC book, or a Volvo Penta book? I've been told it was during their joint venture, but I have no clue on which one, and I haven't been able to browse both separately to find out the differences. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The Seloc manual I have covers your engine and lots of the other size engines. Seloc manual No. 3606 -1992-2003 I have a 1998 5.0Gi
hope this helps.

Get the year specific factory one if you can; the Seloc/ Clymer ones can be a bit vague; loads of irrelevent information over quite a few years about the parts you don't want to know about and little information about the important bits! I never understood why my Clymer manual had a colour section covering things like tools; it never covered questions like what to do if I had a screwdriver with a blue handle, rather than a red one.

Thats what I bought was a Seloc manual, cover more than just my boat, even tells how to winterize your own stuff in full detail, and it easier than you think and saves money big time.

You can also go this route...

I posted a message in the Volvo forum at iboats and someone posted a link to download all the factory manuals. They also included the drive manual. I would post the model and serial number over there if that interests you.
