Hi everyone. So here’s where I’m at.

Starting at the back. I have a spare, fully charged, battery in the boat with me. Ground the battery to the engine and supply positive to the lower BLUE WIRE WITH WHITE STRIPE and the trim goes up like brand new. Supply the same positive wire to the upper GREEN WIRE WITH WHITE STRIPE and the trim goes down like brand new. Motor works perfectly.

My next step is to test the entire system a little more…’upstream’. So now I’m looking to test the wires heading to the stern of the boat from up at or near the dash / throttle assembly. I found a connector which is located just before you get under the dash coming from the throttle assembly (which also has the trim buttons on it). The wires I see are one WHITE WIRE WITH BLUE STRIPE, WHITE WIRE WITH A GREEN STRIPE, and I believe the third was WHITE WITH A RED STRIPE.

So I’ve heard that supplying power to each one of these independently and having my spare battery grounded out to the engine may indeed get the trim to move up and down. This is my question…does this sound correct?

Back story: I heard that the trim would sometimes work when the boat was in gear but not in neutral. Sounds like a broken wire at the “flex point / pivot point” of the throttle assembly!! That’s what I’m hoping for.

Any pictures, wiring diagrams, advice, tips, past stories would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-matt

Sounds like motor is good... Have you removed the throttle remote control? They are super easy to take off (mine is 1 bolt) and when you do this you will notice the wire coming from the switch immediately and be able to inspect it... I bet it is chewed up and can be repaired and easily with some heat shrink tubing if there is enough metal left in the wires... the routing and protection of this cable is important... that would explain why it *sometimes* work when you change gears....
