Hi out there,

My cover supplied from factory leaves a terrible colour stain on the back sundeck each time I use it. Has anyone else had the same problem and how do you remove it?

I had two red canvas folding chairs get wet and leave a dye stain on my old boat. I guess I could forgive that, as they weren't made for it but about a month later I had a black "Gladiator" wetsuit mesh bag bleed black die into the vinyl. Gee, wouldn't you think a wetsuit bag would be able to get wet?

Anyway, both times I was able to get the stains out using Starbrite vinyl cleaner. http://www.amazon.com/Star-brite-Vinyl-Cleaner-Polish/dp/B001444TB2. I'm not so sure if it was the cleaner or the technique. I kind of think any "heavy duty" vinyl cleaner (the kind you can work in, not just spray on) will work as long as you do the following.

Work the cleaner into the affected area with a terry cloth, apply it heavily and leave a little extra on there. Then leave another clean terry cloth rag folded up on the area with a weight or something holding it there. Let it dry like that. It seems like letting it dry like that will draw out the dye. You might have to repeat a few times. Finally if there is still a little color there good 'ol UV rays should fade it eventually.

It should be said that I did this within a day or two of the stains both times, so that may affect how easily it comes out.
