A buddy at work is looking at a 2008 H220 with a 5.7L. Only has 48 hours on it and is in excellent condition. Coming fully equipped with skis, wakeboard, ropes, life vest etc...$28,000....good deal? I am sort of out of touch with bow rider pricing.

Seems like a good price. Single or Dual prop?

I'd wait for a DP model to roll around. If you're going to drop the cash get the good stuff.

I'll agree on preferring a DP for that boat. Your buddy could insist on the lower end of the drive being swapped for a DP as part of that price.

Great price and very low hours but the DP is a deal changer! I would not own another boat without the DP!

My 2008 H220 5.7L has a single prop and works just fine for skiing, tubing, and family outtings. Although, I've never driven a DP so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought it new and only have 32 hours on it. We do a TON of floating because the kids have more fun jumping off the back than they do being tugged around the lake...go figure...

To the OP, have you tried researching similar used boats for their average prices? Is it being sold by a dealer or private party? Even though the price seems good, there is always room for counter-offers with boats these days... You know what they say about the best days of owning a boat don't you? The day you buy it and the day you sell it...

My friend bought it at the negotiated 28K. It was a private party deal. There is a local dealer with a nearly identical boat for sale at nearly 35K...of course, it will get noegotiated and sold less than that.

Good for him. That will be a nice boat, and at a good price too. I would rather have a single prop than a dual prop on a sport boat. Much easier to maintain, change outdrive oil, and the replacement cost for a single prop is so much less than a duo prop set up. On a cruiser or 26 ft. and up bowrider, the DP would make more sense.

I'm late to this conversation, but I'd still like to put in a plug for that boat. I think the H220 is a great boat. For me, at least, it's the perfect combination of size and economy. I have the 5.7l DP version - and my best description would be that the drive system is "grippy." You really notice small throttle changes, up or down, much more than on the SX drive. It took me a while to get used to it.

All markets are different, but I think the price was reasonable. I was lucky to pay $28k for mine last season. I wish your friend the best of boating experiences on what I consider to be a fantastic boat.

28K is reasonable for single prop drive H220... I would not say he need DP since 220 is thrush hold length for better to go with be DP but still ok with SX....
If this boat was 240 and have SX drive I would walk away regardless of the deal...... I think 220 is still ok is SX However, as others said DP is a far better choice.
