Has anyone had any trouble installing a hydrofoil on a boat with an extended swim platform? I have been reading some reviews and some people are saying that it sticks out to far off the lower unit and the swim platform gets in the way. Seeing what some others have found before I go and buy one. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Go for smart tabs & pass on the hydrofoil - you will be much happier

Will smart tabs fit on the H180 with the rear ladder folded down?

Thanks for the input. I did my research on the smart tabs and they are definatly the way to go. They also look fairly easy to install, although I am a little leary about drilling into the boat. Oh well, It will be worth it.

Just use some 3M 4000 or 5200. The fast setting type!

Is your rear swim ladder set up like this? Will you be able to lower the ladder or will the smart tabs get in the way?

Anyone have pictures of their Horizon with smart tabs installed? I would love to see them.

I installed a hydrofoil and I do have to be careful when raising the trim all the way up as the hydrofoil will hit the extended swim platform. I just have to make sure I only raise the trim about 95% of full up and all is well.

Bobaloo is 100% correct, there is no room to install the smart tabs with the factory ladder in place, that is, if you don't have the factory extended swim platform.

If that is the case, you do have the factory extended platform, then you will only need to check for clearance of the spring strut (from swim platform bracing or the bottom of the platform itself).
