If it runs normally just longer its not dieseling, its not timing, nothing sea foam will cure. You have an electrical issue, a short, backfeed, bad coil...something that when you shut the key off the circuit is not cutting out. I would have to find an electical diagram to tell you exactly what to look for..l will look around and see if I can find one.

a buddy told me it is probably an electrical issue. We are going to check it today An electrical diagram would be helpful if you know where I could find it

I had something similar a few years ago; engine running, no gauges working, ignition switch didn't stop the engine, the kill cord switch didn't stop the engine, the only way I could stop it was by removing the connector to the distributor. There was poor connection to the helm harness plus some very bad corrosion to the ground connections at the engine due to a stupid mix of stainless, brass and mild steel components with no corrosion protection . I never did figure out how the distributor was getting +12V with the ignition switch off and the kill cord removed, it's never happened since I sorted out the helm power connection and the ground issue.

We used to run into this issue when replacing alternators with AC Delco internal regulator 10SI types. We had to put a diode in one of the regulator wires to stop the alternator from feeding back into the electrical system. The symptom was that the vehicle would not shut off.

had this issue this weekend, my problem was a purple wire on my altenator, I could not concieve that the wire should not go somewhere but that seems to be the way it is. My buddy figures at one time it had an autostart and the purple wire is for bypassing the ignition.

Not sure why this would just start happening out of the blue though, when mine was doing it it was because I found that I had missed the wire because it was hiding in the roof of the rubber boot, apparently it was close enough to make periodic connection and was grounding out rendering my altenator useless and I was killing batteries, with it completely isolated my issues seem to be solved.

But when it was connected I could kill the ignition, pull the tether turn off the battery switch and she would just keep running, not just for a few minutes but until I pulled the fuel pump line from the battery. I hate electrical.....
