hello, I am hoping someone can help me. here is my problem.
we took the boat out ran great,( for a about a half hour) decided to slow down to float and it died , started it back up,ran it , slowed down again it died and ran rough. had a hard time starting it due to it wouldn't idle. got it going again and headed back in. as soon as we would slow down it would die, .

this is what I have done,
ck fuel filter for water, 2 x no water
changed plugs, rotor, cleaned cap, cylinoid
took carb off and blew it out

this is a 1997 four winns 200 horizon. never had this problem w it. I am original owner.
any ideas would be of great help. I know if I bring in to a shop we will never have it back for the holiday.
also this is a boat that has always been in Michigan waters. never salt

It's a 1997, have you ever rebuilt the carb? If not... now is the time! It should be a Holley so just get the model # and order the rebuild kit from Holley.

Try dumping a half bottle of startron in the tank and refill if possible and see that helps at all before getting into carb work . Could be bad fuel or water in the fuel . I use it in every fill up . Have a 1999 4.3 carb and it still runs good . Did you use 89 octane , I know mine is supposed to use 89 octane according to the manual .

I don't remember ever having to use 89 octane.

Rebuild that carb on your 4.3, you'll be shocked

rebuilt carb and she is running like a charm . I will now have
happy tuber and skiers next week. thank you for all the helpful info!

You're welcome! Carb rebuilding is a maintenance item like changing impeller every year or 2. It's not bragging rights for how long it's gone without a rebuild, that's like bragging you've gone 100k miles between oil changes.
