Had a good day out on the bay here in Melbourne on Saturday (sorry to rub it in Ardy... ) spent mainly off St Kilda and Port Melbourne with the kids tubing on their new Airhead Mega Slice tube they got from Santa, then up the Yarra for a couple of hours.

Anyway, what really surprised me was just how many Four Winns boats were cruising around - saw a red SS, a yellow H190, a Sundowner, several sandstone Vistas, etc. etc. The more you look the more of them you see! :D

Hey aussie it might have been me you saw in that sundowner. It is a sandston colour and we were mainly around stkilda and port melbourne and then up the yarra. We also saw that red ss and a couple of vistas. i think it might have been you driving past us in stkilda marina while we were tied up to the jetty at the fuel dock.

Happy Boating

Regards kyp2

Hi guys, you can add me to the aussie owners list. I just bought my first boat a 98 Horizon RX running the 190hp V6. I looked at plenty of Bayliners, was seriously considering a 99 Searay, but made up my mind as soon as I saw the Four Winns. Boat is in excellent condition but the trailer needs some work. I'll be looking for some advice soon on changing the hydraulic drums to mechanical discs

Took her out for the first time on Sunday. Down the Georges River, ran like a dream, plenty of power. We are going on a 4 day camping and skiing trip this weekend (Hawkesbury river near Wisemans Ferry) so I'll give her a good workout and take a few photos.

Welcome Connor - hope you can pick up some good information and ideas from the site.

Yes Kyp, that was me at StKilda marina - just went in to see how busy the ramp there was (The Warmies ramp was pretty busy) then cruised up the Yarra for a couple of hours. Was a good day - as it always is out on the water!

Yes it was a good day. i was out all day and the waer was perfect until late afternoon. We got stuck in 2.5 meter swells on the way back to the marina. It was terrible. Everyone was soaked from head to toe because the water keep coming into the boat from all the spray and to top it all off i left all the camper covers at home because i thought it was going to be a perfect day. It was an expirience but its not something i would like to be stuck in again :!:
I also took my sons fishing around black rock but only caught flat head that were all under size.
This week sometime we are going to make a trip up to rye with the boat as long as the weather is good.

Regards Kyp2

Kyp, I came in about 1PM to avoid the change - forecast was 1.5m waves after lunch - too big for me

Went out last Saturday at Patterson River. Weather was perfect in the morning, but again chopped up a bit in the afternoon. Tubing with the kids off Chelsea, then cruised down to Mt Eliza and back.

Boat ramp was a zoo - must admit being a 'ramp watcher' while in the queue was pretty entertaining - watched some guy in a Jeep trying to reverse down the ramp - took about 7 shots before he finally got the trailer in the water! Thankfully my wife is really good at this (years of training) - straight in, boat off in less than a minute and applause from the on-lookers!

Wish I got out yesterday (Sunday) as the weather was even better - ended up re-tiling the laundry at home... :(

Looks like we might be going down to Rye this coming weekend to stay with friends - have to see what the weather is doing, but may take the boat. Let me know if you are down there the same time - we may catch up for a beer!

I dont think i will be going anywhere soon with the boat. My son took out the boat sunday and went down to rye. spent the whole day there. On the way back he was going past Martha cove 33 k's out from shore and then he heard a Clunk! so he stopped the boat and switched of the engine immediately. Opened the engine hatch and saw water coming into the engine bay so he turned on the bilge pump. He called the police so he could be towed in and told them what had happened and the water police said "We arnt going to bother towing you in because your engine starts." So he was put through to the coast guard and after waiting 1 hour he was towed into martha cove. The coasties organised a berth for them. Got the boat on the trailer and inspected the damage. It looks like the bellow is torn and also bearings came out. IM going to take it to fleet marine and get them to inspect it and check if there is anymore damage. Fingers crossed there isnt. Hopefully she is back in the water soon.

Kyp2

you eouldnt happen to know how much a full service is at fleet marine? I took mine to jj marinecraft to get it serviced last time.

Thanks

Bummer Kyp... have the bellows been changed before?

My last service at Fleet Marine was $1000.20 that was engine oil, filter, fuel filter, change plugs, impeller, pull the leg, leg oil, gimble lube, tune up etc. Not sure if they have moved yet - you may want to call James Pappas (Service Manager) first - they were shifting from Highett to Seaford supposedly before Xmas.

Cheers

Regarding my H180 ,I expect to pick it up sometime next week. For those of you who have been following my saga, I decided to go with the repainting of the floor boat in the shop (same spec as I ordered). I went down to the boat shop to inspect the workmanship today and was really impressed with the paint job. IMHO it looks EASILY BETTER than anything out of the factory I have seen. So in about a week there will be a heap of photos on this forum of the new baby
