Let's hope there is no rot in the deck and you can get the seats done for a reasonable price. I re-did my interior with new seats from Overtons and had a local guy do the bow cushions for me. It still look good nearly 10 years later.

The motor work you can handle.... Hope the drive is ok too. Looks like they left it in the water a long time.

Heck for 1250, that thing has profit written all over it. And he gets to keep the trailer.

The only profit is from parting it out.

Challenge accepted Ric!! Picking it up this week.

Very good. We'll be looking forward to your updates. Always like seeing a good project.

That trailer, as other have said, is worth the money alone. Looks to be in good shape from the pics. I bet with a good cleaning, it will look so much better, but for the money, its rare to see a boat that's only 13 years old with a trailer like that. I have seen worse than that sell on craigslist for much more down here on the Cape....glad to see you are taking on the project. If you put in some hours, you could get it going before season kicks in!! Good luck! :D

I did $1200. She is a coworker with a sick husband and they owned the boat since new. Also, she has alot of stuff for the boat like filler cushions, carpet, dock lines, covers, life vests, tow rope, knee boards, water skis, inflatable wake ride thing for 4 people and the good bumpers. So I wasn't going to low ball.

Thanks for all of the advice. In the next week or so I will be cleaning and taking stock of everything. While I work on the engine in my garage, the cushions will be repaired. A friend will do the fiberglass touch ups with gelcoat. Then wax. She works in fleet maintenanace and is getting me dealer price on a long block. ECU is there as well as the manifold.

Pics will follow! :D

To be continued.....

Ok, it is home. Work has begun cause it got nice out and it lit a fire under my ass......

Image

I think the engine should fire right up.....
Image

I am going to powerwash it this week and pull the block. I also have a cover for it made of old signs from my neighbors business.
Image

The only thing I am going to need for the engine build is an intake and TBI. So if anyone knows where I can get a used one, let me know. It is a 5.7 Gsi

I will powerwash it this week. My neighbor gave me some signs from his sign business to cover the boat. the batteries are in great condition. The carpet is shot. Some of the cushions are ok (magic eraser trick?) and the bimini is in good shape but needs part of the support fixed. Table, toilet, filler cushions and a new radio that plays MP3's is there. Outdrive is in great shape. Trailered really easy. Fits in my garage!!!

Image

Only thing missing from engine parts is intake and TBI. Any help in finding those would be appreciated.

Crate engine + Riser/manifold kit = boat in water by Memorial Day.

Kudos to getting stuck in to this project!
Have you contemplated buying a 4BBL manifold and carb, to do away with the ECU and TBI?
You can buy quality aftermarket cast iron manifolds, cheap! 8)
You could be chasing wiring gremlins for months on a boat that's been sunk, unless almost everything is replaced...

I think if you watch budget and the gel coat is not damaged then you should be able to polish it out. Visually I can see where this boat would scare people away. But it is a lot of cosmetic, thus was the same with my boat (lots of cleaning). Doing it yourself you could be invested 2-3k and still have lots of room to double your money.

Ill say this I would have grabbed it and flipped it, look forward to the results

I power washed the entire boat and need to wax it. I found an original intake manifold on Craigslist for $150 and can get a TBI setup no prob. I actually have one from a vette in my toolbox. The boat wasn't sunk, so shouldn't have a prob with the wiring.

My marina is a Four Winns dealer and said he would help me out with getting parts cheaper. Pulled the Outdrive. Will do Gimbal, bellows, zincs and a long block rebuilt will only be $1250.

Plan to get in the water by Memorial Day and do the minor things like seat covers while using it.

Let me lend you some "after" pictures for inspiration. These are my 2000 Horizon 240. SAME YEAR!

That's why it makes me sick to see so many boats left outdoors with no covers on them.

Just some engine related stuff. Keep in mind the volvo penta 5.7 GSi is a GM vortec block but has a few differences from the automotive version. Make sure you have brass freeze plugs all the way around and use marine specific gaskets when rebuilding. Also the TBI uses 454 injectors part #25170301-ACR Yellow/Black which may be hard to find though other injectors may work I'm not sure. Spark plugs are AC Delco MR43LTS, there is also a specific procedure to properly time the GSi due to the electronic advance. If you don't have a manual I suggest you head over to iboats.com forums for the info you'll need. Finally, I highly suggest you run 91 octane. I wouldn't know all of this info if my knock sensor hadn't failed while running 87 octane. Hypereutectic pistons absolutely hate pinging, I broke two.

and 15 minutes with a Magic Eraser should have the interior looking like new.

A little chicken wire and stucco too!
Crying shame to see a boat (any boat) look like that.
